Fun Activities to Do With Your Family This Fall

Fall is finally coming back around again, and you know what that means…Seasonal fun for all! This is the best time of year to enjoy some outdoor activities before it starts to get cold. Family bonding and new memories are just around the corner.

If you’re not sure where to start on your fall family fun list, check out some of these activities first and work from there.

Corn Mazes

We’ve only been waiting all year for one of the best fall activities to be available again. Corn mazes are a great way to spend time with your family. If you have a large family, you can split into teams and see who makes it to the end first.

If you’re not sure where to find a maze near you, MazePlay corn mazes has a locator that you can use to find local mazes.

Apple Picking

Apples are reaching peak harvesting time. Take your family to a local orchard to pick a bushel of apples. Take them home and let the fun continue with homemade apple cider, apple pie, and apple sauce. What’s better than enjoying a yummy treat after a long day of fun?

Pumpkin Patches

You had to see this one coming. Pumpkin patches are open again. Most pumpkin patches have all sorts of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. From pig races and hay rides to potato launchers and obstacle courses, you’ll want to go back again and again. And at the end of the fun, let everyone pick out a pumpkin to when Halloween rolls around.

Go hiking before it gets to cold! Find a nice near you to hike through in the evening. Or take a day trip on a Saturday to a National or State park. Spend some time outside enjoying nature. Roast hot dogs for lunch at a day camp, canoe on a lake, and hike a mountain. See what kind of wildlife you can spot.

Baking Treats

Not all days are going to be nice enough for outdoor activities, so when you do get a rainy day, spend the day baking! Let each child search on Pinterest to find a new treat that want to try, go shopping for the ingredients (if you don’t have them) and bake away! When the treats are ready, you can enjoy them with hot cocoa and a movie, snuggled up and warm as the rain beats down outside.

Leaf Jumping

Do you have a lot of fallen leaves on your lawn? Make a tedious chore a fun game by raking up large piles of leaves and jumping in them. This is especially fun if you have a pet dog who can join in on the fun. You can even have a leaf bagging contest to clean up the leaves afterwards. Whoever fills a garbage bag full of leaves first, wins! (Or maybe every person who fills a bag wins, that way the “fun” doesn’t stop when the first person finishes.)

Planning Costumes

Halloween really isn’t that far away, so free time is the perfect time to start planning your Halloween costumes. Let each child decide what they want to be and help them start shopping for different items to put their costume together. If you’re really crafty, get the pieces you need to help your children make their costumes. When the costumes are done, have a fun little fashion show/photo shoot to keep the fun going.
